This project consisted of major upgrades to two rooming houses located on Beaconsfield Pde, St Kilda. The two buildings originally contained tiny bedrooms, lengthy corridors, communal kitchens and bathrooms in need of repair. The final outcome consisted of 37 generous bedsit units with their own kitchen, bathroom and living area.
The roof space of the front building was utilised, with the design of two units into this space.
Located within a heritage overlay, these major works were able to be completed in keeping with the heritage of the area.
The re-design of these two buildings has greatly increased the living conditions of tenants residing in this rooming house.
